The 56th Estate Fiesolana Festival
When in Fiesole, do as the Romans did

Rich of events and surprises, this year's Estate Fiesolana continues until September in the spectacular setting of the ancient Roman Theater of Fiesole. An interesting exhibition of photos and documents celebrates the 56th edition of Italy's oldest summer festival. Opera is traditionally the heart and soul of the program, and this year we can admire new productions of Puccini's Turandot (July 2nd, 7th, 19th and 24th) and Verdi's Traviata (July 3rd, 18th, 22nd and 25th). Additionally, Orff's Carmina Burana will be performed on 16th July. The 'Maestri del Cinema' award will go to Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci (gala night on 7th July; a selection of Bertolucci's films will follow until September). For the classical music section, Edoardo Sanguineti and the Quartetto di Fiesole will be playing on 8th July and OGI (Italian Youth Orchestra) is holding a concert on 1st August. Finally the 14th Florence Dance Festival will take up the stage of the Roman Theater in July from 4th to 30th with a combination of traditional and experimental dance companies from all over the globe.
