Fabbrica Europa has certainly achieved at least one big goal: reclaiming the formerly derelict 19th C.
Stazione Leopolda as a cultural venue for the city. Located at Porta al Prato by the Parco delle Cascine, the Leopolda was Tuscany’s first rail station (built in 1848 under Grandduke Leopoldo di Lorena) and has retained its original structure and monumental character with a huge single hall beneath a metal roofing. The scenic forecourt – remodelled by Gae Aulenti in 1996 – further covers 1,100 square meters. It is an imposing example of industrial architecture and a venue well suited for many different types of events.
